In case for some reason you’ve been unplugged from the Internet or television for the past couple of days, there’s been some news: SportsCenter anchor Jemele Hill is not a fan of Donald Trump.

Hill let it all out on Twitter on Monday and called the President of the United States a “white supremacist.”

The tweet is still up, as of the time this story has been posted.

Just over a month ago, Hill was part of a Sports Illustrated media panel on social media and had this to say on Trump and politics, via SI:

“I have to talk myself out of sending certain tweets several times a day,” Hill told SI. “When you’re under the leadership of a President that refuses to condemn Nazis and racism, how am I supposed to function the rest of the day and pretend as if I give a shit about Blake Bortles losing his job? That’s the conversation I’m having with myself on daily basis. I know there are sports fans looking for me to provide them with an ‘escape,’ but as a woman and person of color, I have no escape from the fact that there are people in charge who seem to be either sickened by my existence or are intent on erasing my dignity in every possible way. So today, my feed is probably a little edgier than it was. It’s reflective of all the emotion and conflict I feel. I think others feel the same way.”

Fast forward to Wednesday afternoon during a White House press briefing, where of course this incident was brought up, and White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders had this to say: “I’m not sure he’s aware, but it I think that’s one of the more outrageous comments that anyone could make and certainly something I think is a fireable offense by ESPN.”

ESPN later came out with a statement regarding the situation on Tuesday afternoon:

Following this situation, Clay Travis of Fox Sports got the scoop on Wednesday that long-time SportsCenter anchor and one of the more prominent figures at ESPN, Linda Cohn, was suspended after discussing, in a very non-political dialect, about some mistakes that the company has made over the years.

Stick to sports? No, it’s 2017, we’re past that.
