Colorado Rapids Score A Horrendous Own Goal In 1–0 Loss
Own goals happen in soccer all the time, but not like this.
On Saturday afternoon D.C. United took on the Colorado Rapids. Only one goal was scored and it was scored in mighty cringeworthy fashion.
Colorado defender Jared Watts zipped a back-pass towards Tim Howard, but the U.S. National Team’s hero wasn’t where Watts thought he was to say the very least.
I kind of love the tweet D.C. United put out. It’s simple, it’s got just a hint of trash talk but it also doesn’t put the blast on the player or anything like that.
This type of play only fuels the fire of those that live to say ‘the MLS stinks’ but again, this kind of stuff happens at least once a year in pretty much every league on the planet. This happened last year to Southampton’s keeper Fraser Forster, which I think plenty would agree is a much worse mistake than Watts’ own goal, right?
