Thinking President Trump Quoted Batman’s Bane In His Inauguration Speech Is Absurd
Donald Trump’s inauguration speech today has been described as dark, powerful, and even Hitlerian but there was one part that really stood out to some.
People are drawing the comparison of one part of his speech to a quote from Bane, the villain from The Dark Knight Rises, and it’s actually absurd.
The quote being pulled out for comparison is “giving it back to you, the people.”
Seven words. Seven.
There are people on this planet that actually believe Trump is quoting a villain from a superhero movie because he said seven words that were the same.
Trump’s message throughout his campaign and today was giving power back to the people. Last time I checked the only way to say that and deliver that message is to actually say “giving it back to you, the people.”
I don’t care if you hate Trump, love Trump or couldn’t care any less about politics whatsoever. The comparison here is absolutely the dumbest thing on the Internet today.
Here is Trump’s full quote:
“Today, we are not merely transferring power from one administration to another or from one party to another, but we are transferring power from Washington, D.C. and giving it back to you, the people.”
And Bane’s:
“We take Gotham from the corrupt, the rich, the oppressors of generations who have kept you down with myths of opportunity, and we give it back to you, the people.”
LeBron James is now making the comparison between the two speeches.
