The Bakersfield Condors and Ontario Reign faced off in the AHL Outdoor Classic at Bakersfield College in California on Saturday night.

Outdoor games are cool. It’s a different element, a different vibe and the ice itself is always a topic of discussion. Mother Nature always plays a role, and on Saturday night she decided to really mess things up.

That isn’t a light drizzle, that is a full on downpour released from the heavens. If this is a baseball game the umpires are more than likely delaying the game, but the game continued in this case.

I mean look at this, these players are legitimately playing through massive puddles. Hell, the entire surface is a puddle at this point.

Here is a closer look at the effect the water had on the puck.

The rain eventually passed and the surface became playable shortly there after, but what a mess.

The rain fell as did the Reign as they lost in overtime.

I’ll see myself out.
