Neymar Is Expected To Move To PSG In Richest Transfer In Soccer History
Neymar is set to make allllllll the money.
The rumors and reports suggesting Neymar wants out of Barcelona and that he’s headed to PSG have been flying for weeks, but on Wednesday they really took a head.
Barcelona even released a statement stating that Neymar has made the decision to leave the club. Lionel Messi already took to Instagram to say goodbye to the Brazilian as well.
So, what about the money? Well Barcelona indicated in its statement that whoever does end up signing Neymar they will have to refer to the buy-out clause of his contract which is 222 million euros, which comes out to just over $263 million.
That is just the buy-out clause, people, it has been reported that PSG is set to pay the 25-year-old in the range $35 million per year (500k euros per week) on top of that for his actual player contract with the Paris club. Oh, and Neymar’s dad will receive some sort of commission as part of his contract/buy-out clause of around 40 million euros.
This absolutely shatters the previous transfer record of $124 million set by Paul Pogba last season on his move from Juventus to Manchester United.
According to the New York Times, Neymar is thought to have traveled on Wednesday afternoon to London, with his father, to review and sign the contract from PSG. Wagner Ribeiro, the agent who represents Neymar in Latin America, traveled to Paris earlier this week, and he is expected to meet the player in London.
Neymar and Messi played four years together at Barcelona and in those four years they won two Spanish championships, the 2015 Champions League, three Copas del Rey and the 2015 Club World Cup.
