NBA Schedule: The Revenge Games We’ll All Be Watching
The 2017–18 NBA schedule is here.
The NBA regular season schedule was released on Monday meaning we can now plan our lives around the best revenge games of the year.
The NBA offseason this summer has been a real life drama, which has been great after a rather underwhelming 20161–17 campaign. While we’re surely not done with drama and trades going down this summer (looking at you, Kyrie) we can go ahead and start to look ahead at the revenge games of the year.
Ricky Rubio Thrown To The Wolves — Oct. 20
Rubio will get to play one game in a Jazz jersey before returning to Minnesota to take on his former club in Minnesota, yep, only one. But hey, this is the NBA and that night is going to be entertaining as hell. The Timberwolves have improved tremendously this summer and are a sleeper pick in the West, but would it shock anyone to see Rubio go for a triple-double in his former home?
Boogie’s Return To Sacramento — Oct. 26
The second revenge game that we’ll be blessed with this year is watching DeMarcus Cousins and the new-look Pelicans visiting the Kings. We all remember watching Cousins being told the trade news just after last year’s All-Star Game, so Oct. 26 should be fun. He’s made it no secret he’s very ready to take on his former team.
D’Angelo Russel Back In Magic Johnson’s Crib — Nov. 3
The Lakers shipped Russel to Brooklyn and Lonzo Ball is pretty much already the mayor of Los Angeles as he’ll run the point. Pretty sure Russel will be looking for revenge and staring down Magic Johnson after every bucket.
Paul George In Indy — Dec. 13
This is going to be a good one, well, for Paul George. The Pacers may be a very tough team to watch this season, but the Thunder should be the exact opposite. This isn’t necessarily ‘revenge’ game for George, but the Pacers definitely have this date scheduled and so do Indianapolis fans. What are we thinking, Westbrook and George combine for 83 shots from the field?
Chris Paul’s Rockets In Clipper Land — Jan. 15
The Rockets are going to be fun to watch…offensively. James Harden and Paul on the defensive side of the ball will be a project, but so is the Clippers’ defense. This will be the highest scoring game of this entire bunch. The Clippers are going to get after it, but that may not be enough against the new-look Houston squad.
Jimmy Butler Back In The Windy City — Feb. 9
Bulls fans are going to be missing Butler this season and likely still have a weird sour taste in their mouths because the move came as a major shock; he didn’t demand a trade or anything. The Bulls got worse this summer while the T-Wolves got a hell of a lot better. Butler is going to be looking to put on a show in the United Center in his new Minnesota threads.
Gordon Hayward’s Return To Utah — March 28
I for one don’t think it’s possible to hate Gordon Hayward, but the Jazz fans will have a different perspective ahead of this matchup. Hayward help prevail the Jazz back to playoff form then bounced to play alongside Isaiah Thomas in Boston, can you really blame him? A classic Western Conference-Eastern Conference matchup on a Wednesday, yep, sign me up.
