A New Zealand Basketball Player’s Eye Popped Out Of Its Socket During A Game

Eye injuries freak me the hell out. I wear contacts so I have no problem touching my eye, but to see people get hit in the eye or really anywhere near the eye is horrifying to me.
This here though is beyond horrifying as Akil Mithcell of NZ Breakers suffered a bizarre incident.
This is some pretty nasty stuff, so fair warning to those that may have a weak stomach.
As I was saying, it’s some pretty graphic stuff.
For those of you who didn’t immediately shut their computer or throw their phone across the room after watching that video, we actually have some good news about Akil Mitchell and his eye.
According to The Stuff out of New Zealand, Mitchell has vision in the eye that popped out of it’s socket. He was taken to the hospital and Breakers general manager Dillon Boucher said that they had been advised by the specialists that while there was some damage to his eye, “the early reports are very positive that the injury is not as serious as first feared.”
Let’s go back to the play though. I mean, talk about an absolute fluke. It’s a play we see every single night in any basketball league with a guy just jumping up for the rebound after the whistle is blown only this time a dude’s finger appeared to catch Mitchell’s eye in the worst/perfect spot and dislodge it.
